Obsession Is A Python Poem by Lauren Kapusta

Obsession Is A Python

Obsession is a python that agonizingly,
And mercilessly crushes the spirit.
The embrace of death is lovely and bitter-sweet.
It can lull you to your private Heaven.
It can wake up rudely to reality.
The soothing escapisms it holds are,
As tempting as any other sensual thing.
You become blissfully and foolishly unaware,
Of the true and ruthless dance that,
Reality orchestrates around you.

Obsession is a python that will never,
Let go until it has you completely.
How wonderful it is and seems to be,
To be lost in perfect fantasies forever.
All that you hate simply doesn't exist.
All that you love is available in excess.
If only, if only, but it is not so.
When one cannot keep up with the,
Mad, feverish dance, they only fall.

Obsession is a python that will,
Crush you irreparably.
When in the material realm, the idealist,
Only suffers and beweeps their existence.
Their cravings are simply unobtainable now.
All that you can have is something you hate.
A hungry and dark sea swells in the heart.
Its waters beat against the beaches of despair.

Place you anchor in a sturdy reef.
I had only cast my anchor in clouds.
