I was walking barefoot
On the ocean bed
Strewn with broken bottles
Warmed by my hands
And though there was blood
And sharks all around
I couldn’t feel a thing
No fear was in my heart
For a journey is so much easier
Once you trust your step
I’ll be with you in a few days
Before they take you away
And all those sacred minutes
That we’ll have left
Will feel like shiny pounds
In a beggars hand
Now I’m very hard of breathing
There isn’t much air left
I thought I’d brave the world
That wasn’t my birthplace
But it’s very clear to me now
As my life floods away
That I won’t be lying
With you in your bed
I hope we’ve had enough time
And long enough were the nights
To engrave in the bones
What I’ve kept in my heart
That you are the one
