Ode To A Worthless Sonofabitch Poem by Jon Edward Walker

Ode To A Worthless Sonofabitch

at work
I was asked to teach
another man whose been
there two months how to make pizza’s
I’ve been there 3 days
I laugh inside but take the reigns
and I dictate him
at first he doesn’t follow easy
but it’s obvious I’m
superior
and he listens
eventually
tonight however
the dishwasher doesn’t show
the one who started yesterday
and I’m given the role as
head pizza cook
while Adam subs
for dishwasher
he is the type of
man who doesn’t want to be mean
and try’s still to smile
laugh and joke with me
but anger and resentment
reign his soul
and exude through his eyes
while soapy water
stains his corduroy’s
I laugh as I drink the
beer the bartender gave me
and not him
and I make more pizza’s
