Your voice is a such a blessing, my dear Mahalia Jackson.
You always sang with deep conviction till the very end.
You expressed the greatest truth, Jesus was our friend.

What a friend we have in Jesus, is my favorite song.
The gospel singers hall of fame, you certainly belong.
We will surely miss you, it only seems like yesterday.
When I heard you sing that song, a tear was shed today.
