Of Missing You And All Poem by Anita John

Of Missing You And All

Oh this treacherous longing
Of wanting to wrap you around me
Like poison ivy winding up
Where once grew grape-vines so sweet…
The feel of you which is only you
The feel of us which naught can compare
The little movements all our own
Tried and perfected thru many seasons of life…
Oh this traitorous heart of mine
That refuses to let go, of what's already gone
Of what the mind knows no more
Oh this stubborn body of mine
That seeks out your presence
So near and yet so far
So real and yet a mirage…
Time they say heals everything
And yet why does that not comfort me
Oh this yearning soul of mine
That's crushed by you, yet pines…
All good things come to an end
But why did I not see this coming
In my own fool's paradise
Did I believe in a love forever...
Rebuffing every glaring sign
And wearing blinders all the way..
You can only hide just so long
Before truth smacks and gets your attention
So now, starts the long arduous journey
(no, I really don't want to go there..)
Up the hill called Recovery
Clawing one's way up the top
Oh slipping and sliding many times over..
And yet… have to believe will get there in time
On top of Mt. Recovery one day..
As I gaze upon my ravaged life then
Surely sunshine and wisdom will be mine to claim!
