Of Who Poem by Francis Duggan

Of Who

Of who is wrong and of who is right the warring parties each other blame
But the deaths of innocent civilians in modern warfare is surely a great shame
Death through a car bomb or a suicide bomber or a bombing raid gone wrong
In all of these ways civilians die the right to take human life to human kind should not belong.

So many so called religious people wish upon others ill
Yet old Moses fifth commandment clearly states thou shalt not kill
And that some see human life as very cheap that does seem sad to say
And far too many dying by the foulest of means in the World of today.

So many so called religious people their religious guidelines do not obey
Far too many unarmed and innocent civilians are dying in the violent way
Some call this collateral damage to add insult to injury
Far too many ruthless people and far too few with empathy.

Of who is wrong and who is right the argument goes on
But with far too many people bygones will never be bygone
And far too many innocent people are dying in war zones every day
Their only sin to live in the wrong place and for that with their lives they pay.
