Oh, Poem by Leah DeCresce

Oh,

it's the welcome rush of your voice.
the silky smooth texture of your hair against my face.
it's the way your skin feels when it moves against mine.
the way our bodies intertwine when pressed against each other.

it's the way your voice calms the storms inside my head,
the look you get in those silent, sweet moments.
the intensity of two hurricanes when our eyes meet,
lock against each other, and then you smile.
that smile, which could level any city.
that look, when i know exactly what you're thinking,
what you feel when i'm staring back at you.

they call it love,
i call it security.
it's a homecoming after a year long journey away.
a year spent trying to find myself,
discovering who i really am,
and i find the answers in every warm embrace.
in every sweet, sensual kiss.
in the way you say my name.

it's the way your eyes can beckon to me,
from across the room,
across the hall,
across the state.

it's the way i feel whenever i see you,
whenever i know i'm on your mind.
the words you say, but don't have to,
just to explain what you're feeling.
because i feel it too,
and even if i don't understand it, i know.
this could last forever,
and i can only hope it does.
