Olawumi Poem by Adegbite Adeyinka

Olawumi

I could have the birds sing her a song
And the trees sway to the rhythm
I could love her all night long
And be the air she'd always breathe in
I could write a poem in my blood
To say I'll love her forever more
Missing her makes my feelings flood
Into my heart, thoughts of her, deeply bore

I could tell the moon to hide its light
And bare itself to her radiant glow
I can never let her out of sight
She's the essence of the life I know
I could write her name on my heart
And make it's rhythm from the sound
I can never lose her, I crave that
I know my being, to her, is bound

Like a dire wish granted
She lights my face with a beaming smile
She's all I've ever wanted
For her I'll walk whatever mile
Here she lay cuddled in my arms
I wish it would ever be that way
And if I could own time with charms
It will pause to have her stay
