Old Jack The Mole Poem by David Threadgold

Old Jack The Mole

Rating: 5.0

Old Jack the Mole

Deep underground near the grass in the park
Living alone in the damp and the dark
A lonely old mole by the name of old jack
With long hairy whiskers and scar on his back

Remembering days in his youth long ago
Keeping away from the ice and the snow
Waiting for spring when the earth comes to life
Hoping on hope he would find him a wife

Juicy fat worms wriggled close and got eaten
Against other moles he would never get beaten
He kept up his strength never missing a bite
In case in the future he may have to fight

Then out of the blue by the light of the moon
A lady mole saw Jack and started to swoon
He took her a worm wrapped it up in a coil
She ate it up quickly in case it should spoil

That did the trick there was no need to fight
Finally Jack found his own Mrs Right
Deep underground near the grass in the park
No longer alone in the damp and the dark
