Old Love Poem by Ray PotterAdams

Old Love

Remember my dove, how side by side we fell in love, so very long ago,
long before pyramids stood by the Nile, the river still shallow and slow,
So long ago it seems but a dream, as my heart was lost to your smile,
As eons of time passed us by, we would feel our love grow all the while,
and in those sad few lives our paths failed to cross, the empty lives
of a great love lost, we know we can never recover the cost,
I felt the joy this time when you were seen and my soul intervened,
awakening memories of all we had been, of immortal love,
So broad and vastly deeper than anything I have ever felt or seen,
except for the bottomless depths, of your beautiful eyes, always of green,
Loving you, you loving me is our future as was our past,
for the oceans of time that has,
and those that have not,
yet come to pass.
