Old Times Poem by Hannah Roberts

Old Times

This Poem is dedicated to my Dad.

Old Times

Why can’t it be like old times
When we used to laugh and play
When we went to Baskin Robbins
Each and every single day

We’d Play B-Ball at the park
Or we’d chill down at the lake
Or we’d just to back to my house
For my poor old mother’s sake

I remember that one day
When you and mom came up to school
And as we all walked hand-in-hand
I thought it was so cool

It was just what I had hoped for
I’d dreamed about it every night
Until that one day came
When we all got in a fight

My mom said she didn’t love you
And you blamed it all on me
And even though I kept it in
I felt as guilty as can be

Things then fell apart
We all went out separate ways
Then one day you came back
After many many days

You found out she was engaged
Then you stopped coming around
I called you every single day
But you didn’t hear a sound

Now we’ve moved away
And that chance with you is gone
My life is in the dark
And I cannot find the dawn
