Omit Poem by Emma Cookie

Omit

Rating: 5.0

This is the time of year you will forget.
You will forget the taste of the cold and the silence of the snow.
You will forget the frozen fields and the hollow grass.
But the snow will forgive you, it will always forgive you.
Because it loves you.
Its exterior may be chilled and bitter,
But what lies inside?
A warm, beating heart
A raindrop
Frozen, it sleeps encased in a crisp, damp, shell.
Is it drowning?
Never. No matter how bleak the remnant of the world remains,
The raindrop continues to dream in its peaceful sleep.
Loving you, from inside its snowflake.
It will forgive you when you refrain to watch it fall from the sky
Swirl and spin from the heavens to your fingertips.
It will forgive you when you neglect to bask in its eminence
Its beauty so subtle, so soft, even you forget.
Why would it keep trying, keep falling, keep lapsing patiently?
Because it does the only thing it knows.
It loves you blindly, and devotes itself completely.
Maybe, you could pause your introspective mind
And search for that raindrop inside of your snowflake.
