On A Woman I Once Knew, And Loss I Well Know Poem by Wes Wilbur

On A Woman I Once Knew, And Loss I Well Know

So i'm lost again.
But it's deeper than before.
Kisses carreses and so much more,
Fade into the night like black on suede.

I met a girl, so they say.
I got lost and lost some more but now I feel the burn.
If a thousand words could satisfy the question i would never find the answer
Except perhaps in a novel the size of a mansion.

A one night stand
What the hell is that?

Can you find love in a sandbox?
Can you find it in a den of rats?

I cannot follow what I can't see.
But when i look around the candle-lit room,
I realize that seeing is not really what i need.

But as i grope around the cavern of loss it makes sense not to scream.
The woman and all and the delusion and lust.
Makes a meager poem an unfortunate must.
