On The Day Of Seychelles Carnival Poem by Marina Pascal

On The Day Of Seychelles Carnival

Trees of our forests recite the colours of our roots;
Wild flowers relate stories of our ancestors on our granite islands
surrounded by our magnificent sea;
Our endemic plants sing fantastic solos to show our unity;
Our multi-coloured plants do ballads to show our diversity;
Our coral flowers in our marine garden do a carousel to show our varieties of fish all dressed for the masquerade and 'bal masque';
that includes 'tronpet''papiyon' and 'demwazel';
Shell fish showing their collection of shells, whilst the octopus is conducting the marine orchestra;
The sea is putting on her best gown
to reflect the beautiful colours of our crystalline waters
and make a presentation of our coral islands,
which is intact and totally preserved;
Our giant tortoises are speechless because of emotions
they know that Seychelles is a gallery;
Our lovely 'payanke' birds are demonstrating in the air
to welcome our visitors;
When all is ready;
and the 'lasiv' is blown.
all species will hurry for the 'Defile, o ritm Karnaval!
