On The Dove Poem by Wakefield Mahon

On The Dove

She could not hide, from me, her face
I saw her in my dreams
We lived our lives a furious pace
Two reckless human beings

All we could do was fight it out
Knowing that was all
That we could come to, without a doubt
Lest the two of us should fall

Her time was day
My time was night
I lived in the gray
While she basked in the light

How could I live without the Dove?
Why must I have been in love?
Can you put, on me, the blame?
Explain the moth's affair with flame
