On the lavender tablecloth—
Goblet and corkscrew wait
Like two committed to a task
Preordained and absolutely
Inevitable cast against a
Sheer backdrop, satin crinkling,
their effervescing light framing
The wine for your sipping
Pleasure and for me to enjoy its
Moving about you, shedding
A glow ingredient, condiment
I use to inspire the sauce of you,
tendering meal sauté rich
and zestful scent of wet pink,
smooth mussel deliciously bathed
seashell juiced in love’s feast.
Now then purplish layered petals,
See how you’ve drawn the
First tear from my possession,
Glistening pearl-clear, silk-cling
Foreshadowing coming rapids
