On The Road To Kamloops Poem by Liz Annson

On The Road To Kamloops

Ancient limbs fall back
Before tooth and claw and mighty pincer
Reaching out in supplication
Then seeming to rear back in fright
Gnarled branches drawn in to defend
The mighty Ponderosa heaves a last sigh
Still the trees fall
