On The Streets Where Most Live Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

On The Streets Where Most Live

Listen up, folks.
And may I have everyone's attention.
I apologize for interrupting,
Your gossiping sessions.
However...
I have some distressing news.
Not for all, but some of you.

Recently...
I have heard from reliable sources,
That...that...
And trust me.
I wish there was another way to say this.
But...
Those of you who make up stuff.
And have your lies told to believe?
Well...
It has been just announced on the streets.
Where most of you live.
And entertain yourselves.
It has been rumored,
Although not yet official.
Everyone you have done this to.
With a continuing to do.
Could care less!

"NO! WHAT ARE YOU SAYING? "

Yes. I'm telling you.
They could care less.
Calm down. Calm down.
Please try not to get so upset.
Now...
A few of your community leaders.
Have had meetings secretly with the government.
And the government has promised,
They will do all they can...
To convince those people to at least,
Pretend...
What you have done to them,
Has been effective.
And your community leaders,
Are currently working out a deal.
In which those you attempted to offend,
Will agree to express...
Their being ticked off.
In a more public way.

"But how?
How can 'we' identify this?
How will we know? "

Well...
It is said,
They are working out an agreement...
To begin rolling their eyes.
And looking as if disgusted.

"Whew!
What a relief.
God is so good to us."

All the time!
