On Writing Poems Poem by Gloria Kim

On Writing Poems

It feels instinctive,
like a birthing -
groaning push, sweating duress
sputtering sphinctered words.

Next, painstaking polish into pearls
these strange droppings,
to preserve for a leaky heart
how once I felt.

Such a privy matter
this produce from my gut -
savorings of a closeted soul
learning to be in the world.
