Once I Fell In Love Poem by Aanuoluwa Adebanjo

Once I Fell In Love

I watched the two love birds ride along the old narrow dusty road
Chatting and laughing away
I remembered i was there too
In there very shoes
Some decades back
When my hair was longer and darker than it is now
When my skin glowed like the morning sun
When my face was all smooth and fresh like the sea sand
When my breasts stood firm and barely knew a touch
That was many years ago
When my love was as strong as the Oak tree
But now the times have passed
The time when i sleep with the desire of love burning in my heart
When i awake with a burning desire to love and love
When each day felt knew because i was in love
Once indeed i fell in love
And now the love is not lost
It has simply grown with my age
But i can no longer let it show
But hidden in the depth of my soul
To burn in remembrance of my old lost lover
