One Day Long Ago Poem by Joyce Hemsley

One Day Long Ago

Poem written many moons ago.

Blue sky shone through,
a gentle breeze blew.
I was queen of the land
as you asked for my hand.
You had it all planned
'one day long ago'.
Our hearts were aglow,
and we kissed with a sigh
way up on high
at Nottingham Castle.

You played the May King
Robin Hood of the Spring.
Maid Marian, I played...
your wishes obeyed.
Sweet promises we made
and I will never forget
how our loving eyes met;
ignoring passsers-by
way up on high
at Nottingham Castle.
