One Hissing Bug - Lincoln Park Zoo Poem by Ima Ryma

One Hissing Bug - Lincoln Park Zoo

Madagascar hissing cockroach,
I do lots of hissing, I do.
Some humans are scared to approach,
Here at home in Lincoln Park Zoo.
But oft humans do come close by,
And I do make my hissing call.
It's just my way of saying, 'Hi, '
'Look but don't touch, ' to one and all.
My mouth does not make the hiss sound.
It comes from my tummy parts that
Take in air and push it around,
Hissing loud through my habitat.

Each one of my hisses does be
Distinctive so you know it's me.
