One Lap Race Poem by Stephen Gradwell

One Lap Race

And so,
Your at the end of your tether,
You need quite a deal more rope,
Entangled yourself in a family's hope,

You found the flanks, rose in rank.
Now awaits complete surprise,
Something new for a change?

You threw it away for your pleasure arcade.
Had it all for show on life's tacky parade,
Laid to waste, what you couldn't interpret.
Broke some hearts, had to restart,
Slain some demons, burned yourself to the stake.
Thrown all thrown at you at fate.

Burned your case, gained some face.
But life was all but a long one lap race.
What's more, hope you find,
Nothing more than an over juiced example of mankind.
