One Moment Poem by Zain Durrani

One Moment

Who else if not you?
To fill up empty longing hours,
The intervals between noise; pandemonium,
The incredulous gazes at studded skies; mute encomium!

Shredded time, kindles memory,
Tears keep company if not you, in sweet reverie,
I sat blank, precariously among them; pervasive commotion,
Stepped back, ahead was too for ahead, I didn't deny emotion.

Are there ladders to stars?
Friend, answer me imperfectly, slowly,
While words trickle down the douche; perfectly,
I shall know how sinking feels; surrender sanctity, lose happily.

A sucker for humanity; silence,
moving along blurred, blighted lines of parity,
lets pretend immortality for a while; pretend sanity,
Lets lie down blankly, gaze at the sky; its clarity.
