One Must Thank Mother Nature Poem by Francis Duggan

One Must Thank Mother Nature

A beautiful evening the sun's in the sky
The silver billed magpies piping as they fly
In the sunlit Townparkland from tree to tree
And none can mistake the call of the pee wee
A beautiful close to a beautiful day
The shrike thrush in his cloak of light brown to gray
Is whistling his beautiful song of the Spring
The workings of Nature is a wondrous thing
The fragrance of blossom blown out from the trees
Wafting through the park in the freshening breeze
And the voice of the blackbird so pleasant to hear
He does sing his best at this time of the year
The laughter of children enjoying their play
One must thank Mother Nature for days like today.
