One Sound Poem by Edwina Reizer

One Sound

I only wish to hear one sound
and yet there are so many sounds around.
Still the one I long to hear
is never heard. It's not in my ear.
A radiant sound that meant so much,
a soothing sigh from one sweet touch.

And though the sound has gone away
I pray for it to come back someday.
All other sounds just deafen the air.
The sigh that's lost is hard to bear,
But, bear it I must. I have no choice.
If ever it returns I shall rejoice.
