Only Now Poem by Justine Wallace

Only Now

Rating: 5.0

Ever since I first saw you,
I felt something stir up inside.
Only now do I know what it is
And how it must be satisfied.
Only recently have I learned your name
After being in your company for some time.
We've spoken in these few days,
And I've found it to be quite sublime.
I've watched you in secrecy.
I've observed and want to know more.
You fascinate me and make me think.
My mind is rather sore.
Do take note of something, please:
Not all of my watching is covert-
Once we matched our gazes.
Taking a chance doesn't have to hurt.
And when our eyes aligned,
So too did the stars.
The world could've ended right then,
But that moment was ours.
Only now do I know what I have sought
For what seems to be the longest while,
As I did not know what happiness was
Until I saw you smile.
