Only One Call Poem by Samantha Bell

Only One Call

The darkness closes in
Making her fill claustrophobic
Everything around her faded out
As she listened to her love on the other end
The high pitched sequel of breaks scraping the road
The sound of screams swallowed her whole
As the minutes pass by
All she can do is stand stunned
Phone stuck to her ear
Unable to stand straight, shaking to the bone
she drooped the phone
As it clattered to the ground she snapped back together
Reaching for her heart, she put the phone back to her ear
Just in time to hear his last words.
