I've just recently started to conquer back your side of the bed.
I'll be fine I hear mine and your voice say in my head.
One day i'll be the man you always knew I could be,
And i'll never again have to bargain a price or clutch my money tight at the sight of a bill or a fee,
You were the X that marked my spot, my hidden fortuna,
there's only so many ways in which you can cook canned tuna,
and there's so many things I wish I would've done sooner
maybe sometimes i went off protocol, broke relationship by-laws and did it my way,
At night my cheeks turn to shiny sticky highways,
for conspicuous spheres of false hope and fear,
and If you knew how proud I was, you would've never shed a tear.
jackets indoors, double pair of socks for the floor
keeping the heat inside by closing the door
I knew you knew you could do better, so much better,
I lost faith girl. A prayer was nothing but a monologue with the ceiling and dream catcher was nothing more than an ornament with feathers,
We were but poor law students
I now have the dream job interview lined up for next week
but does it really matter when I don't have you to tell me i'm sweet
when I bring you a cheap Tesco bouquet and you playfully pinch my cheek?
I wanted to give you so much more, but I dug myself a hole so deep,
and you got tired of rooting for me to climb out and get on my feet,
I thought you went for a stroll, but you walked away and I climbed to save my soul
But once i reached the surface I realised that all you asked me to do was to climb out of a grassy knoll,
Just know that wherever you are boo,
I hope you find a man who can give you what you want
and maybe one day you'll even have grandchildren too!
I'll try to forget how your nails felt inside my palm
and how your presence could render me such calm
because even if it pains me, you've told me so many times you've moved on
the world is your stage, and across it you slide
you've had a photographer, a poet and who will be the next lucky one to be by your side?
the world is yours bubu, and it's panorama wide.
