So now you're cooler,
now you're better,
now you're everything
you always wanted.
You're also dying.

Why do we finally realize
that we only have one life
when it's almost gone?

You should be suffering,
or so the doctors said.
You shouldn't be able
to even leave the bed.
But you're running free and happy.

I wondered like a child,
when she took my hand
