Only You

It was you, and only you
Who has inspired a love so true
A love everyman aspires for
To be owned and to be cared forever

It was you, and only you
Who has given me joy
Happiness which makes me feels so good
And laughter which eases my mood.

I am happy ‘cause I have loved you
Yet sorry ‘cause you have to go
Leaving me the traces of the past
Thinking, and never will it last

It is you, and only you
Who will make me blue
After the days of joy, tears will come
And loneliness will be all around

It is you, and only you
Who will take my heart with you
Nobody I know had been sincere and true
But it is only you, beloved whom I know so true

Poem of the Day

poet Alfred Edward Housman

The time you won your town the race
We chaired you through the market-place;
Man and boy stood cheering by,
And home we brought you shoulder-high.
