Onward I Go Poem by James Darwin Smith II

Onward I Go

This heart sings aloud
Of the past, to this present mundane
Through the bittersweet events
The sacred moments
And every emotion
All of everything
Melodies so out of place, Disoriented, All Alone

This heart out of tune
Octaves beating profusely
Making music of love
Painful at the moment
But what will the future bring?

Under the skies
There is so much going on
Why does pain have more support?
When pleasure is not trusted?
This enigma I can never fully understand
Yet, why waste my time with it anyway?

Felt so much emotional pain
As if I was going to die
Most was given to me from myself
The enemy I was within
I versus I, Why?
What good was that going to do?

The pain is still a burden
Things no one knows
Unexplained events
Nothing I will ever reveal
Shards of fragile moments
In the archives of my own subliminal release

As this heart is flawed
Once shattered but now back together
With emotional scars I won in my battles
I take pride in which I am
A lover of life, a survivor
Grateful, Honoured
For what everything has made me today

I cry but not in pain
For the victory of life
Through stings, the cuts, everything
I will never be my own victim again

This heart is strung on a string of sublime
Knotted up, Embattled
Ready to claim a better life

This heart only can be heard
By those not afraid to want to hear
The message of hope
Where dreams are formed by scars
Striving on like never before

Inside this flawed heart’s epiphany
An earnest angst of honest proclamations

This soul will make sure of that
Guiding this off tune heart
Into an uncharted realm
A nexus of brand new endeavours
Directing me to what is now ready to be finally explored

Into the far reaches I go
As this heart sings louder than ever before

Onward, Galore!

I am ready for way much more!
Burdens or not
I am ready for way much more!

Onward I go!
