Opponents

We see them here and over there
How they’re down when they’re high
We see them take and watch them share
How they live when they die

When will they love or ever care
How will we ever know?
One’s opponents are everywhere
And standing toe to toe

We’ve a Father they a mother
Some hate and others love
Can we cease to fight each other?
And rise as one above

Love is such a wonderful thing
Quite beautiful to see
Even healing when people sing
Allowing foes agree

If only pride would be no more
If love is on the throne
We’d see on earth a different law
Where no one casts the stone

For all are wrong from time to time
Sometimes we can be right
But love can forgive every crime
Where people see The Light

We ought to stop our finger pointing
Let hate be sacrificed
Seek the One with God’s anointing
The One and only Christ

Let true love flow let wisdom reign
Let’s live in constant love
Walking in peace healing the pain
Upon God’s Way above
