Orphan Boy Poem by chip reed

Orphan Boy

Rating: 5.0

orphan boy cries alone in the dark
tears rolling down his face leave a flooding mark
dirty, filthy, bleeding hair
a single shadow is his only company there
no one helps him
crying face bruised
he had to get away from a family of abuse
he's a child forgotten
hungry in pain
heart so broken
he doesn't notice his blood stain
feeling so empty his body unfilled
he notices crumbs someone has spilled
the boy remembers his dad on crack
he remembers him drunk getting beatings from a baseball bat
running away with sad eyes
nobody notices or cares if the kid cries
he is gone for today
nobody seems to love him and he has nowhere to stay
picked up by a cop
the boy is taken away
he gets in the car and he starts to pray
god i am only seven
but if i die can i go to heaven
the cops eyes fill with tears
the cop drops him off
and the boy dissapears
