Our Bumpy (Slightly Chipped) Wall Poem by empty shell

Our Bumpy (Slightly Chipped) Wall

Everyday, I see our love
In the pictures on our wall
Sometimes I pass them 20 times,
Without giving them a thought

Occasionally I straighten one
And pause to be impressed
Family, friends and children
And moments we have kept

Behind them is the wall
Strong, bumpy and yes, chipped
Exactly like our life
Without the sound effects

Holding it all together
The nails, no one sees
The talks and the discussions
The never ending work

The work that keeps it working
Seems to go on forever
But it doesn’t seem so long
When we look at them together
