Our Divided Race Poem by Lyf Burns

Our Divided Race

I sit
Alone
Surrounded.

I feel the shadows
Stretching to capture
What is light in the world
And my heart.

Why do they do such things?
They are so fragile,
Yet they act so...
Thoughtlessly.

They are so very capable....
Do they not see their own potential?
As a group
They can accomplish.

But they remain divided,
Why?
They simply need to see
What they do not today.

And now they attack
Useless.
Bloodshed?
Grief?
Anger?
Strife?
Pointless considerations
Of a divided race.

But without such things?
They are not the same.
