Our Fair Go For All Poem by Francis Duggan

Our Fair Go For All

You support those who have bombed their Homelands and on them you now bolt the door
And from leaky boats they beg you for refuge but you turn their boats from the shore
For votes you prey on the fears of the voters Howard and Beazley as men you are small
Is this your idea of Australian an insult to a 'fair go for all'.

I don't respect the likes of Hanson or Ruxton to me they could never appeal
And though they speak such racist rubbish at least they speak of how they feel
On different races and cultures but the to be Prime Minister
Beazley or Howard
Pretend for to be firm though non racist in order for to be empowered.

By supporting those who bomb their Homelands you give rise to more refugees
Those bombs are just huge shells of poison that cause famines and widespread disease
And around the shores of this great Country you then create this legal wall
Against those you helped to make Stateless and is this your
'fair go for all? .

The people do not own the Country but to the Country they belong
And for the Government to disown the Stateless to me does seem morally wrong
Our span on this Planet a brief span and empires and governments fall
And mistrust and lack of compassion is this now your 'fair go for all.

The media claim that amongst the refugees there are terrorists but a terrorist not a refugee
These people are desperate and Stateless and their war ravaged Homelands they flee
The media spreads cheap propaganda one must ask how low can they crawl
And an election that is fought on boat people is that now our 'fair go for all'? .
