Our Fate Poem by Eric Maffettone

Our Fate

I scatter my heart, and throw it away, I show nothing, for I refuse to say.

My spirit yearns for god, my heart seeks comfort, but I just smile and nod, and act like I don't hurt.

What good does that do, hiding behind a wall, then again its nothing new, I'm still going to fall.

To try is to fall, but not to try is to fail, as the saying goes, but don't bide time and stall.

For you will never move, you will not progress, not in your state, not in your mess.

This is what I thought, for the longest of times, now I see things differently, for this is what I sought.

Honesty, courage, hope, dreams, and life, not a single person in this world, should live with such strife.

After all, you only live once, at least in this world, so make the most of YOUR calling.

One person leads, but the humble follow, with this being said, let the light show.

Let your soul live on, be happy and elate, each of us are special, and to love is our fate.
