He’s a hero at Spanish Cove
He’s a man who fought for our freedom
Jim Fisher is the man I mean
We honor him for so many reasons
He flew twenty-two missions
In the year of nineteen-forty four
His plane was shot down
He was knocking on death’s door
He parachuted into a corn field
But he was captured eventually
After hiding for a time
He was then taken to Germany
Fisher and two others then
Escaped successfully
He finally came back to the states
And with his wife, Helen, lives peacefully
We thank God for folks like Jim
That is what Memorial Day is for
We ask Him to help us find peace
It’s a day we cannot ignore
It started years ago, you know
With the Native Americans
Fighting for rights and freedom?
On this cherished and precious land
Let’s all pray to God to help us
Guide our troops and keep them safe
We honor those past and present
Who looked death right in the face
We love them, every single one
And we all just want to say
Keep them safe, God as we honor
Our heroes this Memorial Day!
