Our Memories Poem by Janae Coe

Our Memories

A tree in the park
The dancing floor at Sadies
A single room
A small house

A branch up high
In a grove of trees
The perfect place
For you and me

The dancing floor
Where you sang to me
Our sweet song
And started our long affair

A single room where
Time after time we
Made the existence
Of someone like us

A small house
Where two or maybe three
Other people shows how they cared
About you and me

So why have those memories faded
Into the darkness known as
Sadness and despair
The memories we clung to so hard

Why are we now in
Separate houses
Thinking about one another
But not saying a word

Why are we letting those memories
Die?
