Our Playground Poem by Ray Hansell

Our Playground

Life use to be our playground
In all that we'd do
I really enjoyed my childhood
Especially, sharing it all with you

But what you never knew
Was the happiness I always felt
But than a bad thing happened
We both grew into adults

It seems now that our playground
Is not the same as it use to be
Life has become more complicated
Then the way it was for you and me

We both moved on and along the way
Lost track of one another
I met someone and fell in love
I heard you became a mother

I think back fondly of those days
When our lives were so uncluttered
Having no idea back then
All the things in life we'd discover

Never once did I ever think of you
As someone other than a friend
But the one thing I've come to realize
How much on you I did depend

I'll always remember our playground
Where we grew up as kids
It seems the simple things in life
Are the things we most often miss
