Out Of Wreckage And Destruction, Springs A Welcome Sprig Of Hope Poem by Elizabeth Padillo Olesen

Out Of Wreckage And Destruction, Springs A Welcome Sprig Of Hope

Out of darkness, comes light to shine through
Out of heavy rainfall, comes the sun to dry up
the wet ground; out of the storm, comes
silence that stops the swinging of branches
and the lashing of the waves to the shore.

Out of typhoons, hurricanes, tidal waves,
floods and earthquakes, we see the generous
hands in solidarity to help and rebuild.
Out of wars, violence and terror, we hear
voices calling us all to live in peace.

Out of wreckage and destruction in our own life,
in our history of nations, and in our world,
We often see a sprig of hope in a breaking seed,
in the bursting flower, in the birth of a child,
in silence after every storm.
