Overcome Poem by Robert Mahoney

Overcome

Here I am, holding on to shreds of hope
Fighting on as you cut the ropes
Take a look at all of me, see the changes
Girl you've got to believe and remember...

We are the ones who've overcome
All the things that the world has thrown at us
Though I know my mistakes can't be undone
I still know that we'll make it through this
So much stronger than we were before
This is not the end, girl
We will overcome

There you are, trying not to show the signs
That you keep so much pain inside
Hiding it even from me, though you need me
Girl you've got to believe we're Forever

We are the ones who've overcome
All the things that the world has thrown at us
Though I know my mistakes can't be undone
I still know that we'll make it through this
So much stronger than we were before
This is not the end, girl
We will overcome

Honey take a look at where we started
And try to see how far we've come
Follow me to the edge of Forever
And take a leap of faith beside me
Plunge into Eternity together
And join me for the ride

We are the ones who've overcome
All the things that the world has thrown at us
Though I know my mistakes can't be undone
I still know that we'll make it through this
So much stronger than we were before
This is not the end, girl
We will overcome
We will overcome
