Paid Pennance Poem by Robin Benton

Paid Pennance

Rating: 5.0

With relative ease
they sought to appease my torment

They even lent their insight
which only reinforced my plight

Now, subject to the varied designations of blame
techniques fine tuned to bring shame
and self doubt

They possessed the answers for me within
and without further ado

They attempted a rescue of my sins
for merely a pennance to rend
