Painful Encounter Poem by Branden Gordon

Painful Encounter

I died a little when I saw you there, laughing with your friends.
Knowing that you didn't care, almost brought my life to it's end.
Sitting just around the bend from you, I was so close yet so far away.
Every time I see your smile, it reminds me of that tragic day.
You threw away what we had, put it all in your past.
Even though you said you were sorry, and that you swore it would last.
But we both know that wasn't true, nor could it have ever been.
It still haunts me to this day, but I'm glad to have had the honor of being your friend.
