Painted Numbers Poem by Kwan Yin

Painted Numbers

Plant me a tree with pink blossoms when in bloom
Where birds can weave nests from grass and clay
For a lonely dog to spend winter nights calling to the moon

Give me a puppy of white and black to nurture as my own
With paws to kiss and a fluffy tail to groom.
To cuddle inbetween dark shadows when I feel unknown

Build me a home with windows higher than the Walls
Where I can smell April through eyes grey and blue
Measure it in calculations 124 reaching out to empty halls

But most of all don’t let them chop down my tree
Give her water earth and sun
Feed her roots to spread wider than all of the sea

Let pink blossoms remind you of me
