Pal of My Cradle Days
Mum...
I thought I'd put it down in words
how much you mean to me
I never said these words enough
the way it should have been
I love you oh, so very much
I have you in my heart
I keep you in that special place
for when we are apart.
These words alone are just for you
in each and every way
of love and undying gratitude
I give you each and every day.
Thank you just for being my mother
the one that I adore
thanks to you for loving me
for guiding me through life
Thanks to you for being there
when others had took flight
Thanks for all your words of wisdom
teaching me wrong from right
Thank you most for showing me
how a woman can be strong.
But most of all I like to say
thank you for always being you.....
You always lived your life so full
filled with joy and laughter
you always read the stories with the happy ever after
life is sad without you, although you have not gone
Your in the land of Alzheimers, where no one should belong.
It breaks my heart to see you there
alive, but without living
helplessly just sitting there breathing...just existing
loneliness engulfing you, yet families all around
I'd like to quote this certain song
we use to sing out loud.........
' Pal of my cradle days
I'll be with you always
since I was a baby upon your knee
you sacrificed everything for me
I stole the gold from your hair
I put the silver gray there
I don't know any way I can ever repay
Pal of my cradle days '
I love you mum xxx

This is a beautiful celebration of a mother's love. A very fine poem indeed. Well done, Anna
favorite lines: filled with joy and laughter you always read the stories with the happy ever after and life is sad without you, althought you have not gone Your in the land of Alzheimers, where no one should belong. a fine tribute. i suppose it eases your mind a bit to write this. i'm confused; is she alive or dead. i mean really dead, though real death may be better than what first took her. again, not what i was looking for in #69, but a lovely poem anyway. bri ;) thanks for the Poet's Notes! to MyPoemList
This is a deeply stirring tribute, very finely penned. The cadence and rhyme artfully done to enhance the solemn depth of the piece. Again, a beautiful tribute, so candidly yet lyrically expressed. A piece to treasure along with every memory.
Expressing our emotions is to touch the spirit and your poem has touched me. Now when I hear it's a wonderful world...I will think of your poem in addition to the lyrics.
