Pale Blue Rose Poem by Maggie Mundi

Pale Blue Rose

A time ago my love,
I thought to inquire of you
'Were I a rose, what color? '
You answered, 'Palest blue.'

I smiled but was not happy
Confused at what you'd said
What does he mean by palest blue
When I am deepest red?

Red is dark, like blood or wine
How can he not but see
That I am deep, mysterious
This man does not know me!

Seems so long since then we talked
And we've grown as one in heart
Red roses, I've learned, do come & go
But me...I stand apart

And looking back, I have to smile
For t'was you who always knew
That I was not a rose of red
But one of palest blue
