Panacea Poem by Samantha Jenks

Panacea

And what I realize that what I have left after you’re gone is that I have nothing
That when I’m apart from you I’m apart from me
Everything I love about me is found in you.
And when you take you away I lose me.
It’s what you leave when you go
A void in my heart and I’ve lost control
You’re the one that holds the power, and I submit to you
But don’t take for granted my love, don’t make my compassion my weakness
I’d do anything for you, live for you die for you.
But please don’t make me die
Because all I want to do is live
I’m taking life two steps at a time so that I can follow your pace
Don’t lead me down the wrong path because I’m always following your way
And in the end I don’t want to find myself alone,
I always want to be found next to you
It may take years in time
But in the future I hope in time you find
The answer you so desperately seek
Though the answers aren’t always so easy to see
I know who you are and it’s deep inside of me
When you’re falling down lost, and you don’t know the way
You can always hold onto me
I’ll be the panacea you so desperately need
You will always be mine, and I will always be yours
I’ll never love another, and if you leave today
No one else will ever fill your space
So I’m silencing my inhibitions and following my intuition
And believing in the only thing that I know is true
The love I have tangled up in you
