Panic Poem by Edwina Reizer

Panic

When you feel your heart
beating fast
you wonder if this feeling
will last?

Something triggered it
to go top speed.
Something made you
get all keyed.

Could it be love?
Could it be fear?
Can you figure it out?
Will it disappear?

Most people know
what brought it about.
Those that don't
can't figure it out.

Some hide their feelings.
They don't want to know.
They try to forget it,
just let it go.

But they're never sure
when it will come.
And if it does
will their heart come undone?

Life is too fleeting.
It goes too fast.
One minute you live it.
The next it is past.

C'mon dear heart
give us a break.
'Cause nothing in life
is a piece of cake.

We need to slow down
and be at peace.
Our flight reflex
will never cease.

So next time your heart
is beating too fast
think of sweet nothings
so it can last.
